Watch the BOS/Park & Rec Public Hearing LIVE

Tune into the Needham Municipal Channel Monday night, January 23, 2017 at 7:00pm to watch a LIVE Public Hearing, held by the Board of the Selectmen and the Park and Recreation Commission.  The topic is Eversource’s “Gravel Pit” project, which you have heard about in the previous months on The Needham Channel News.  The meeting will be rebroadcast through the month of February on the Municipal Channel and will be available to stream here on needhamchannel.org as well. Here’s more information on Monday’s meeting from the Town of Needham Website:
In March, 2016 Eversource Energy first presented its “West Roxbury to Needham Reliability Project” plans to the Board of Selectmen.  The current proposal is to remove a section of the existing overhead transmission line that runs along the MBTA right of way and bury it in a concrete duct bank predominantly beneath public roads.  A critical component of the project is the ability of Eversource to cross Town property near Route 128 on land known as the “Gravel Pit.”  Eversource has requested that the Town grant an easement for this purpose, which is subject to approval at an upcoming Town Meeting. There have been several updates of the project to the Board of Selectmen since March and all of the documents are available on the Town’s website: www.needhamma.gov/hot  (shortcut to Hot Topics webpage). The Board of Selectmen will conduct a joint public hearing with the Park and Recreation Commission on all aspects of the proposed Eversource Energy project on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performance Center of the Broadmeadow School, 120 Broad Meadow Road, Needham.  The Park and Recreation Commission has primary jurisdiction over the Gravel Pit land that is the subject of the proposed easement.  At this hearing, the Board of Selectmen and Park and Recreation Commission will review proposed mitigation efforts for the area of the easement and the entire 2.6 mile project.
