Sometimes it is difficult to see what is right in front of you. Immersed in the every day, it is a challenge to notice the little things that indicate there is something wrong unless you are alerted by something eye-catching. It is the reason for equipment warning lights, and local groups have applied that premise to a larger societal issue.
According to the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS) about 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime and reported some form of IPV-related impact. The Take Back the Night Club at Needham High School and the Domestic Violence Action Committee have partnered to raise awareness of this common issue that is not frequently discussed.
