• Members of Green Needham would like the Select Board to sponsor Town Meeting Warrant Articles to reduce plastic use in town. Needham has broached this topic before. Through a Citizens Petition, Town Meeting members adapted and adopted a ban targeting single use plastic bags last May. This year, the campaign continues, but proponents are taking a slightly different approach. To smooth the way for the next steps in reducing plastic waste, they approached the Select Board last week in hopes of getting them to sponsor three new initiatives on the Town Meeting Warrant. While the Select Board was receptive to the concept of further action, not all of their plan garnered support. Municipal Producer Yuxiao Yuan has the details.
