It has been thirteen years since the 13th Norfolk District seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives was last vacated, and this election season presents voters with a variety of choices. The district includes Needham, Dover, and part of Medfield.
Three candidates are officially on the ballot for the Democratic Primary on September 3rd: Patrick Gatto, Kenneth Ruetenik, and Josh Tarsky. We spoke to each of them about their backgrounds, experiences, focus areas, and perspectives on key issues. You can watch the interviews below to learn more about the candidates.
Additionally, Bhuren Patel has launched a write-in campaign for the Democratic nomination. His story, along with those of the other three candidates, is covered in a Needham Local article we ran in July.
The winner of the Primary Election will face William Dermody, an unenrolled candidate, in the November election. Demordy has also been interviewed, and you can watch his interview below. Please note that Dermody is currently serving as the vice president of the NCTDC, the corporation which runs the Needham Channel and Needham Local.
In addition, the League of Women Voters of Needham and Dover-Sherborn will be hosting a Candidates’ Forum on August 21st to present the four Democratic candidates. The forum will be live-streamed on the Needham Channel.
