• Part 1 in our series to help you get to know the candidates running in the Democratic Primary on September 3, 2024. They are looking to win the seat for the 13th Norfolk District. In a two part series, Municipal Producer Yuxiao Yuan introduces you to the candidates listed on the Democratic Primary Ballot in the race to fill the 13th Norfolk District seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. In addition to the official candidates, there is also a contender who is staging a write-in campaign for the Democratic nomination, Bhuren Patel. The winner of the September 3rd primary will go on to face William Dermody, running as an unenrolled candidate, in the November election. Please note that Dermody is currently serving as the vice president of the NCTDC, the corporation which runs the Needham Channel and Needham Local. In part one, we meet the candidates and learn the motivations behind throwing the proverbial “hat into the ring”. In part two, we learn of the issues they think are central to their campaigns, and what they would bring to the office if elected. Yuxiao Yuan’s at-length interviews with Pattrick Gatto, Kenneth Ruetenik, Joshua Tarsky and unenrolled candidate Bill Dermody are available on the Needham Channel’s YouTube page.
