The evening was dominated by the return of 1688 Central Avenue, as the neighborhood petitioned the ZBA to revoke the issued building permit, cementing the fact that the embattled property’s fate is still not set. The owners have applied for a Special Permit Amendment to alter, enlarge and extend a pre-existing, non-conforming single-family to allow the demolition of an existing deck and stairs and replace it with a basement and a family room above. The property is located in the Single Residence B (SR-B) District.

Case #2 – 1688 Central Avenue
Holly Clarke, Gregg Darish, Robert DiMase, Matthew and Nicole Heideman, Carl Jonasson, Ann and Peter Lyons, and Eileen Sullivan, appellants, applied to the Board of Appeals for an Appeal of Building Inspector Decision (ABID) of Building Permit BC23-10079 issued to Matt Borrelli and Needham Enterprise LLC dated September 19, 2023, for the construction of a childcare facility. The ABID concludes that the Building Permit plans on file do not demonstrate that the construction, alteration or use as proposed complies with the Zoning By Laws as limited by the Dover Amendment MGL 40A, Section 3 The property is located at 1688 Central Street, Needham, MA in the Single-Residence A (SRA) District.
