The Needham Planning Board and Select Board recently approved a long-awaited Housing Plan, the first update since 2007. This comprehensive plan outlines the town’s most pressing housing needs and offers recommendations to address the housing shortage. With the potential to guide housing production and development in Needham for many years to come, we thought it is important for you to stay informed and provide your own input.
The plan includes a rezoning strategy to comply with the MBTA Communities Act and a proposed reform of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) that will be voted on at the upcoming Annual Town Meeting in May. It also offers potential solutions to reduce teardown activities and improve energy efficiency in the town. Additionally, the plan prioritizes addressing the needs of senior and disabled residents, as well as those earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income.
In this video, we delve deep into the details of the Housing Plan, unpacking the proposed strategies and discussing their potential impact on the community. Watch now to learn more!
