With the Annual Town Election just around the corner, it’s important to be informed about the candidates and their positions before heading to the polls. In an effort to provide you with the latest insights, we’ve created interview videos with the three candidates running for the Needham Select Board.
Along with the Select Board race, there is also a contested five-year term on the Planning Board with Robert Dangel challenging the incumbent member Adam Block. While we won’t be offering candidate interviews, We will cover the League of Women Voters’ Candidates Night on Monday, March 27, where you will have an opportunity to learn about all the candidates running for elected boards and committees, and Town Meeting.
Our interview videos with the three Select Board candidates – Marianne Cooley, Cathy Dowd, and Joshua Levy – delve into a range of topics. From their backgrounds and qualifications to their vision for the town. Marianne Cooley, a 10-year Select Board member and the board chair for the past year, discussed some of her proudest works while serving on the board and her goals for improving alternative transportation, affordable housing and carbon footprint reduction.< Cathy Dowd, a Town Meeting member and a government and history teacher at the Needham High School, talked about her background in civic engagement and her priorities including downtown revitalization, schools and open space. Joshua Levy, currently serving on the Needham Finance Committee, spoke about his experience growing up in Needham and his ideas for creating more housing opportunities, improving pedestrian safety and government transparency.
Don’t forget to vote on Tuesday, April 11! For information on polling stations and how to vote by mail or early in person, please visit the Town Clerk’s website.
