The Needham Select Board held a hearing to determine if the owner of a dog deemed dangerous has made sufficient progress in eliminating potential risks to the community.
Over the last few months, the Needham Select Board has been wrestling with decisions around a dog who has repeatedly gotten loose and attacked other dogs in its West Street neighborhood. Measuring the rights of the dog’s owner against those in the neighborhood who don’t feel safe, the board placed a number of restrictions and requirements on the dog’s family and requested regular updates on their progress. At the most recent Select Board meeting, they continued the hearing in light of lapses in communication between the parties involved.
