The town of Needham is looking to start a dialogue on the way it communicates with its citizens, both residential and commercial. Over the last two years, Public Information Officer Cyndi Roy Gonzalez has been in uncharted territory, christening the position, which is new to the town. This summer, she kicks off a series of forums geared toward exploring the methods of communication that are used in this town, and seeking for ways to improve them. On June 30th, she held the first community forum, which is available for streaming in the window below.
The first forum included an overview of current communications tools and sought input on the kinds of information members of the community wish to receive. Those who were unable to attend may participate through written comments sent to croygonzalez@needhamma.gov. Feedback will be incorporated into overall Town communication strategies and inform the Town’s future website plans.
Website Visioning – Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 6pm
The Town will embark on a Website refresh in August, with an updated website to launch in early 2022. This will be a discussion with the community about the current website features, new enhancements and priorities for information.
Town Meeting Member Communications – Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 6pm
Town Meeting Members will be invited to a discussion about how best to communicate with the Town and their constituents. We’ll look at examples from other Towns.
Redesigned Website Feedback – Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 6pm
It is anticipated that the PIO will provide an update on the website refresh and solicit community input.
New Website Implementation – Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 6pm
(Date subject to change based on website project timeline)
The PIO will present on the website, new features and answer questions.
