The name, Richard P. Melick, has long stood for two things in Needham, Town Meeting and community service. When the long-time town moderator stepped down in the late 1990s, volunteers banded together to pay tribute to him by creating a foundation to acknowlege the achievements of people they found to be like-minded, and thank long-serving town meeting members. After 25 years of highlighting civic engagement and service in the Needham community, the Melick Foundation has made their own motion to dissolve. President Paul Milligan recounts the organization’s accomplishments.
Before they disbanded, The Richard Patton Melick Foundation had one final award to bestow. They recognized Paul and Polly Attridge for their decades of service to the Needham community.
