Re-Zoning: Will TM Green-Light or Hit the Brakes?

On Monday, May 3rd, many in Needham will be tuning in to the Needham Channel to watch the Needham Town Meeting as it unfolds live at the Memorial Field Parking Lot. The main task at hand? A discussion will take place on Zoning Articles that would create a new category called the Highway Commercial 1 District. It may not sound that exciting, but it is the culmination of a multiple year effort which proponents hope will stimulate new growth and protect the neighborhood. Opponents see it as, at best, a premature move that will invite intolerable amounts of traffic into the area. Municipal producer Yuxiao Yuan looks at the arguments ahead of the debate.
